Mead Hunter, Editor

 Mead Hunter’s literary career goes back to his high school days, when he was nearly expelled for writing a satirical play about the faculty. Since then he has acquired a background in journalism, written four original plays, translated four more, and served as production dramaturg on numerous play productions. Currently he is working an adaptation of a classic play and a long-form novel.071102_rickmead_019

Mead earned an MFA in Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism from Yale University, where he was the Managing Editor of the award-winning Theater magazine. For Theater, he edited numerous articles and playscripts by authors such as August Wilson, Athol Fugard and Dario Fo. He has taught critical writing and text analysis at UCLA (where he earned a PhD in Critical Studies), UC San Diego, and the California Institute of the Arts.

While serving as Director of Literary Programs for A.S.K. Theater Projects in Los Angeles, he founded Parabasis, the celebrated semiannual journal for playwrights, and was that publication’s Editor-in-Chief for six years.

Mead now lives in Portland, Oregon, where he serves on the Advisory Boards of Literary Arts, Portland Theatre Works, and Imago Theatre.
